Land Clearing in Tomball, TX: Lot, Brush & Forestry Mulching Services

North of FM 1960 the ground turns to sand and the brush turns to pine. Tomball, TX lots are loblolly and sweetgum over a yaupon floor, with tallow creeping in along the ditches. I've cleared them since 2018 from my yard in Hockley, twenty minutes west. Skid steer mulcher, $3,000 a day, transport included. Pine under 8 inches is a one-day acre; bigger pine takes the big mulcher. Call (713) 587-6978 or send three photos of your place. Janine will have a number back to you by tomorrow.

THE WORK / FIELD SERVICES

Land Clearing Services in Tomball

Seven kinds of ground work. One number to start with.

Turner Land & Pine Land Clearing provides land clearing, lot clearing, brush removal, stump grinding and rough grading for residential and commercial properties in Tomball, TX and the surrounding area. Pine changes the list a little.

  • Property clearing and full site clearing for a new house: pine down, yaupon ground, cleanup done, pad roughed.
  • Selective clearing: thin the loblolly to the trees you want and take every yaupon stem.
  • Commercial clearing for pad sites along Highway 249 and FM 2920, same per-acre prices.
  • Tree removal with haul-off at $600 to $1,200 a load.
  • Landscape clearing behind a house, and land improvement on old pasture to make your property usable again.

A land clearing company serving pine country runs two sets of teeth. Knife teeth shear pine fine and fast; carbide teeth take the dirt and roots on the clay lots south of 1960, where knives would be dull by lunch. Anything under 8 inches goes through the skid steer. We call 811 and check for a pipeline easement before the machine moves, and we leave the site under two to three inches of pine mulch, which holds the sand through the first thunderstorm. Past rough grading the site work belongs to other trades: no concrete, no septic, no house demolition from us. I know people who do them. Insured crews on every job.

Lot Clearing for New Homes in Tomball & Magnolia

Turner Land and Pine lot clearing for new homes in tomball & magnolia in the Houston area

A one-acre pine lot in Tomball is one to two days. Tomball pulled 309 single-family permits in the 2025 Census Building Permits Survey, and most of those lots started as loblolly and yaupon on sand. Most land clearing projects in the Tomball area run one acre to three, and residential land clearing here means knowing which pines stay. A professional land clearing service in Tomball walks your lot with ribbon first, and the sketch shows every keep tree. On our jobs off Hufsmith Road the question is pine stumps. A loblolly stump has a taproot, so we grind it 6 inches below grade where the slab goes and flush in the yard. Stump grinding runs $150 to $400 per stump by diameter. We walk the property with ribbon in hand and mark every keep tree. Sand is good news for drainage: ankle deep on Tuesday, workable by Thursday. Near Spring Creek and Willow Creek, property owners should look at the FEMA flood maps; in the mapped floodplain Harris County Engineering wants a development permit before dirt moves, and I'll tell you if your lot is in it before we quote. The land clearing process starts with three photos and your plat.

Brush Clearing & Forestry Mulching Near Tomball

Turner Land and Pine brush clearing & forestry mulching near tomball in the Houston area

Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses specialized equipment to grind trees, brush and vegetation into mulch where they stand. On a pine lot it is the cheapest way to clear land: no burn piles, no haul-off, and no TCEQ outdoor burning question, which matters because Harris County posts a burn ban most dry Augusts. The skid steer will remove brush and pine under 8 inches at 1 to 3 acres a day. The big mulcher, 11 feet wide, does 4 to 8 and handles large acreage clearing out toward Hockley. Pine falls where you tell it. Yaupon falls where it wants. Yaupon is the real work in the Tomball area; it grows in areas with dense stems an inch apart and will overgrow a thinned lot in three summers, so a professional clearing service grinds the crowns, not just the stems. Sweetgum sprouts from the roots, and we grind it below grade and let the mulch shade the sprouts out. Overgrown land with yaupon under pine runs $1,500 to $2,500 an acre, mulched in place; open pine over a grass floor runs $1,000. Walk your acreage the next morning and you'll see the sun hit the trunks you kept.

PRICING / LOCAL WORK

How Much Does Land Clearing Cost in Tomball?

Numbers first. The lot decides the final price.

Land clearing costs in Tomball, TX run $1,500 to $2,000 an acre for light brush, $2,500 to $3,500 for medium growth like yaupon and small pine, and $4,000 and up for dense timber or a clear-cut with haul-off, which is what a mature pine lot usually is. By the day: skid steer mulcher $3,000 with transport, big mulcher $4,000 plus transport. Twenty pine stumps we grind by the day instead of per stump. Minimum trip charge is $1,200 to $1,500, and Tomball is close to my yard, so transport sits at the low end. The number depends on the size of your lot, the pine diameter, and the ground, depending on site conditions the week we come. Wet ground adds a day, though sand forgives a wet week better than clay. Excavation, detention and site preparation past rough grading go to the dirt contractors I work with; site prep beyond that is another trade. Our land clearing FAQs page answers the frequently asked questions about pine haul-off and permits. Call (713) 587-6978 or send three photos and the address. Janine will have a number back to you by tomorrow.

THE MAP / HOUSTON AREA

Serving Tomball ZIP Codes 77375, 77377 and Nearby Magnolia, Spring, Cypress, Hockley

Our equipment yard is in Hockley. Send the address and Janine will confirm the route.

Tomball sits where Harris County meets Montgomery County, and our crews run land clearing services across both ZIP codes, 77375 east of Highway 249 and 77377 west toward Hockley. Harris County pulled 16,940 single-family permits in 2025 and Montgomery County 11,597, the two busiest in the Houston metro. We cover Spring and Klein east on 2920, Cypress south on Highway 290, and the yard in Hockley makes Waller County a short trip. Fort Bend County, Fulshear, Brookshire and west Houston are the far end of our map, but we run the same services throughout. This is where Southeast Texas prairie gives way to East Texas pine. Commercial land clearing services for commercial development along Highway 249 carry the same prices and the same sketch. Commercial sites inside Tomball city limits carry a tree ordinance, and we check it. The site visit is free across the Greater Houston area, and so is the on-site estimate that follows it. Give Janine your ZIP and she'll tell you which day the machine is in your part of the county.

FAQ / STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Plain answers.

If your question is about wet ground, Janine will ask me.

How much does it cost to clear land in Texas?

Light brush can start around $1,500–$2,000 per acre. Dense wooded tracts often run $4,000 or more per acre. Our skid steer mulcher rate is $3,000 per day with transport included. Photos help narrow the number.

How long does a half-acre take?

Often one machine-day for light brush and small trees. Wet ground, mature timber, old fencing, and narrow access can add time. I want to see the gate and the thickest part before I promise a day.

Do I need a permit to clear my lot?

It depends on the address and scope. Grading, floodplain work, drainage changes, wetlands, and local tree rules can trigger approvals. We check the jurisdiction before any regulated dirt work begins.

What happens to the brush?

Forestry mulching leaves chips on the ground. Full clearing can include piles or haul-off when the next use needs a different finish. Tell us whether you want mulch, a clean pad, or both.

Who answers the request?

Janine reads the web forms and handles the schedule. She usually responds within the hour during working hours. Hollis reviews the ground and takes responsibility for the scope and number.
