Land Clearing in Rosenberg, TX: Lot, Brush and Forestry Mulching Services

Rosenberg, TX carries the Hwy 59 corridor now. The Census counted 419 single-family permits here in 2025 against 11 inside Richmond city limits, and nearly every one of those 77471 lots started as prairie tallow with mesquite creeping in from the south. Turner Land & Pine runs land clearing services across the greater Houston metro, and Fort Bend County west of the Brazos is a short haul from our yard. Skid steer mulcher, $3,000 a day, transport included. Half an acre of tallow and yaupon is one day. Call (713) 587-6978 or send three photos of your lot. Janine will have a number back to you by tomorrow.

THE WORK / FIELD SERVICES

Land Clearing Services in Rosenberg

Seven kinds of ground work. One number to start with.

Rosenberg is the working end of Fort Bend County, and the land clearing projects show it: builder lots off Highway 36 and FM 2218, five to twenty acre tracts toward Needville and Beasley, and commercial pads along I-69. Fort Bend pulled 9,638 single-family permits in 2025 per the Census Building Permits Survey, third in the metro, and Rosenberg takes the share that Richmond does not. Residential land clearing provides land clearing crews their spring and fall here; the summer belongs to pasture and mesquite.

What we do: lot clearing, brush removal, tree removal of mesquite and hackberry, stump grinding, pasture mulching, storm cleanup, and rough grading for a pad. Commercial land clearing services for commercial sites along Hwy 59 and Highway 36 bring the big mulcher and a haul truck at $600 to $1,200 a load; commercial clearing for a commercial development leaves bare dirt for the survey crew. On residential and commercial properties the choice is selective clearing, keeping the pecans along the old fence, or full site clearing. Professional clearing of mesquite has one operator rule: the bud zone sits 6 to 12 inches below grade, so a mulching head run at the surface only prunes it, and we grind mesquite crowns deep or it is back in two years. Our land clearing services in Rosenberg price mesquite work by the day for that reason. I do not pour concrete, install septic or demolish houses. I know people who do. Tell Janine what the lot is for and the sketch starts there.

Lot Clearing for New Homes in Rosenberg and Richmond

Turner Land and Pine lot clearing for new homes in rosenberg & richmond in the Houston area

A half-acre tallow lot here is one day with the skid steer, $3,000. A two-acre tract with a mesquite fence row is two days, because mesquite is slow work. The land clearing process on a Richmond, TX lot: 811 locate, since a pipeline corridor follows the Hwy 59 side of the Brazos, flag the keepers, grind the rest, grade the pad. Let a lot overgrow four summers here and the tallow is 6 inches and the mesquite is thorned and rooted deep.

The Brazos River sets the FEMA floodplain through both towns. Inside it, Fort Bend County wants a development permit before dirt moves, and I hold the pad until it is issued. Site preparation for a slab means a pad 12 to 18 inches above base flood elevation, built in compacted lifts, with the yard graded so drainage reaches the road ditch and not the neighbor. Gumbo clay swells shut when wet and cracks open when dry, so the fall has to live on the surface, not in a trench that closes. We do rough grading and swales. Deep excavation and detention ponds go to a dirt contractor. In a dry week the lot is bare clay by the first evening, with the long shadow of one pecan across it. Send Janine the survey and the pad plan together.

Brush Clearing and Forestry Mulching Near Rosenberg

Turner Land and Pine brush clearing & forestry mulching near rosenberg in the Houston area

Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses specialized equipment to grind trees, brush and vegetation into mulch where they stand, with no burn pile and no haul-off. Around here it is the sensible way to clear overgrown land: the county sits under a burn ban most dry summers, TCEQ outdoor burning rules apply the rest of the year, and the mulch layer keeps the clay from baking into plates by August.

On our jobs in Rosenberg we see mesquite and huisache in areas with dense tallow come back from the root unless the crowns are ground below grade, so that is how we run the last pass. Mesquite is the only brush I know that fights back after it's down. Last fall on a lot off Highway 36 the mulch layer we left held through two inches of rain while the bare lot next door washed into the ditch. The skid steer does 1 to 3 acres a day and eats anything under 8 inches. The big mulcher is 11 feet wide, eats anything, and does 4 to 8 acres of prairie a day. Wet ground adds a day and tallow thickets add a day; a mulcher floats on wet clay where a dozer sinks to the belly pan. We remove brush, leave it mulched in place, and leave the site with a 2 to 4 inch layer a landscape crew can plant through. Call Janine after a dry week and she will slot the machine.

PRICING / LOCAL WORK

How Much Does Land Clearing Cost in Rosenberg?

Numbers first. The lot decides the final price.

Land clearing costs in Rosenberg run $1,500 to $2,000 an acre for light prairie brush, $2,500 to $3,500 for medium tallow and mesquite thickets, and $4,000 and up for dense growth with haul-off. Mulching alone is $1,000 to $2,500 an acre depending on site density, and it is the cheapest way to clear land on the prairie. Stump grinding is $150 to $400 per stump by diameter; a mesquite stump is small but sits mid-range because the wood is hard and the crown is deep. A lot full of stumps is priced by the day. The minimum trip charge is $1,200 to $1,500 for one machine and one short day. Site prep and pad grading are their own line.

The total depends on the size of the tract, how wet it sits, and whether the mulch stays or goes. Large acreage clearing over 20 acres gets a site visit; toward Needville I want to see how far the mesquite has run. A professional land clearing service names the day rate before the lowboy leaves the yard; a clearing service that quotes by the hour is selling you the machine, not the result. This town and the other six counties come off the same sheet and the same clay; transport is in the day rate both places. The land clearing FAQs page carries the frequently asked questions on permits, burning and timing. Call (713) 587-6978 or send three photos and the address. Janine prices every project from that sheet.

FAQ / STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Plain answers.

If your question is about wet ground, Janine will ask me.

How much does it cost to clear land in Texas?

Light brush can start around $1,500–$2,000 per acre. Dense wooded tracts often run $4,000 or more per acre. Our skid steer mulcher rate is $3,000 per day with transport included. Photos help narrow the number.

How long does a half-acre take?

Often one machine-day for light brush and small trees. Wet ground, mature timber, old fencing, and narrow access can add time. I want to see the gate and the thickest part before I promise a day.

Do I need a permit to clear my lot?

It depends on the address and scope. Grading, floodplain work, drainage changes, wetlands, and local tree rules can trigger approvals. We check the jurisdiction before any regulated dirt work begins.

What happens to the brush?

Forestry mulching leaves chips on the ground. Full clearing can include piles or haul-off when the next use needs a different finish. Tell us whether you want mulch, a clean pad, or both.

Who answers the request?

Janine reads the web forms and handles the schedule. She usually responds within the hour during working hours. Hollis reviews the ground and takes responsibility for the scope and number.
